Photo Composition

Tuesday evenings beginning May 8, 2007

$195 per person

Skill levels: Novice through Intermediate

This course is styled for novice- through intermediate-level photographers. In all cases, those wanting to improve the quality of their work will find the class helpful. The primary goal is to learn and practice techniques of artistic composition. The students will explore the ways that framing, lines, shapes, colors, textures and patterns contribute making better photographs. Weekly assignments and positive critiques give participants many opportunities to move their photography to the next level.

 

See the Light

Thursday evenings beginning May 10, 2007

$195 per person

Skill levels: Novice through Intermediate

While this course is aimed at somewhat more experienced photographers, it is readily accessible to all skill levels. The main objective is to take students’ work to a higher level through a better understanding of how light interacts with the camera and imaging media. We move beyond the “normal” ways of seeing and making photographs. Participants will explore how differences in light, shadow, transparency, reflections, etc. affect the final image. Weekly assignments and positive critiques give participants many opportunities to improve their photography.

 

Turning Pro

Times to be determined by participants’ availability

$295 per person

Skill levels: Serious Intermediate though Advanced

This course is for experienced individuals who want to explore what it takes to become a professional photographer. The group will investigate various fields, including photojournalism, commercial photography, portraiture, stock photography, fine art photography and others. The goals will be to learn what skills, experience, and equipment are required for success in each field and to determine each individual’s needs for training to complete the move into a new photographic career in the area of their choice.

The Turning Pro class is limited to no more than six serious photographers.
